Description
A diaphragm pump uses a rubber membrane to pull water in the intake and push it out. This has a few unique advantage over typical pumps:
- Can pump air or water. Because of this the pump is self priming, even when the source is below the pump. This pump can lift water 2 meters.
- Handles fluid with grit or other impurities that would damage other pump types.
- Liquids are kept separate from pump parts.
A major disadvantage to diaphragm pumps is their lifespan. This pump is rated for 2500 hours which is only about 3 months of continuous use. Diaphragm pumps are best suited for situations where fluid is moved intermittently.
