Description
This set of 433mhz transmitter and receiver are capable of sending data between two microcontrollers in one direction. They’re a low cost way of sending sensor data to a central location or controlling something like a relay or servo from afar. Collecting sensor data from a remote weather station or garden would be an ideal application. These would also work great for creating a remote control that doesn’t rely on infrared.
These have a moderate range of as much as 200 meters (650ft). That’s an ideal number and about half of that would be more typical. The transmit module is compatible with a pretty wide voltage range. Using a higher voltage within that range will increase the transmission distance.
An alternative wireless solution is using an ESP8266 either standalone or connected to an arduino to connect the project to wifi. Using 433mhz modules are an excellent low cost alternative and they work in situations where there is no wifi or central server mediating the data.
