Description
This color sensor is used to detect the color of an object. It has a white LED to illuminate the object and then provides red, green, and blue intensities in proportion to the color the sensor sees. This can be used to reconstruct or save that color. For example, show a color on a display or as an RGB LED that closely imitates a color the sensor sees.
The sensor has an infrared filter. Humans can’t see infrared so this helps the sensor pick up colors as the human eye would see them. The ambient light that the sensor picks up as RGB is translated from analog to a digital signal by several onboard analog to digital converters. The sensor has an adjustable gain so the accuracy of the sensor can be tweaked according to different lighting conditions. It also has an adjustable exposure time which can help tune the time/accuracy ratio according for what’s best for the application.
The module runs at 3.3V but accepts both 3.3V and 5V voltages. It will also work with either 3.3V or 5V logic.
